Ft. Wayne Snider jumped out to an early lead and capitalized on another woeful shooting night from the Lady Vikings, 13 of 44 from the field and 2 for 8 from behind the arc, to hold on for the 44-43 win Tuesday night. The Lady Vikings were led by Taylor Foley's double-double, 16 points and 22 rebounds, which we will attribute to Taylor's appearance on Talkin' Sports with Gary L. Snyder Monday night.
The Lady Panthers jumped out to the early 13-9 first quarter lead and would extend that lead to 7, 28-21, at halftime. Led by Foley's performance, the Vikings made a third quarter run, cutting the Lady Panther lead to 3, 36 -33, heading into the final frame. The Lady Vikes outscored Snider in the fourth but couldn't get over the hump as the Lady Panthers held on for the win. The loss drops the Lady Vikings to 0-4 on the young season.
Along with Foley's outstanding performance, Kayla Schenkel dropped in 11, Liesl Davenport added 7 and Jessica Ehler, another past guest of Talkin' Sports with Gary L. Snyder, went for 6. The Lady Vikings will be back in action Friday, November 27th as Homestead visits. Huntington North will be honoring the past Lady Vikings' State Championship teams between the varsity and jv game. Also, the Lady Vikings will be collecting canned goods during Friday's game. You can hear all the action right here on HuntingtonCountySports.com starting at 8:00 p.m.
The Lady Vikings JV squad jumped out to an early lead and went on to beat Snider 41-20 in the warm-up to the varsity game. The Lady Vikes were led by Jericho Parrett with 13 points, while Rachel Herr added 7 and Kelsey Hollowell knock down 6.
