The wrestling team won, FOR THE 1st TIME, the NCC
Conference title on Saturday. They
bested New Castle by a score of 235.50 to 233. Marion finished 3rd. Winning the individual weight titles were:

LOGAN RANDLE @ 112 lb 1-0 decision over Brenden Campbell
(New Castle)

The boys swimming team finished 4th out of 8
teams. The 200 Medley Relay,
consisting of Danny Scher, Skyler Ruschhaupt, Shaun Marion, Chris Royer,
finished 2nd place but broke the school record setting the new mark
at 1:42.45. Scher also finished the 50 Free in 1st place and a new
school record with a time 21.94.
Ruschhaupt won the 200 IM, 100 Fly, and 200 Free Relay. Scher also won the 100 Free and 200
Relay.
The girls swimming team finished 5th out of 8
teams. Cassie Hacker finished 2nd
in the 100 Breastroke.
BOWLING RESULTS
Hartford City - Huntington
North Viking bowler Venice Roberts finished runner-up in the Hoosier Conference
JV singles tournament. Roberts lost in the title match 177-162 to Jay County’s
Lee Mock. Roberts was the 4th seed after qualifying(554) and
defeated Bellmont’s Neal Brown 204-181 in the round of eight. In the
semi-finals, Roberts defeated Lady Viking Alysssa Prickett 191-171 to advance
to the championship match.
Prickett (514) was the #8 seed after winning a 9th-10th
frame roll-off against Blackford’s Sean Cavanaugh. Prickett defeated the #1
seed, Greg Owen of Jay County 203-114 to advance to meet Roberts. The third
Viking to make the finals was Elijah VanDine. He was the #5 seed after a 523
series. VanDine defeated Bellomnt’s Derek Bayer 146-141 before losing to Mock
in the semi-finals 225-215. The top five bowlers received medals and
scholarships.
In a warm-up before sectional, Lady Viking junior Sierra
Rice won the Hoosier Conference Singles title, defeating teammate Tonya Crago
197-191, and the Lady Vikings swept the top five places. Rice was the #3 seed
after a 3 qualifying game total of 560(155-220-185). In her first match in the
finals, Rice took on Southern Wells’ Kelsey Miller, winning 172-142, to advance
to the semi-finals against Lady Viking Ayal Yeiter. Rice defeated Yeiter
201-176 to get to the title match.
Crago was the #1 seed after rolling a 657
series(244-202-211) and defeated Jessica Clark of Bellmont 235-209 in the round
of eight. Crago then defeated Lady Viking Brittany Nortestine in the
semi-finals 227-153 to advance to the finals against Rice. Notestine was the #4
seed with a 556(155-186-215) series and defeated teammate #5 seed Elizabeth
Bischoff(549) 191-177 to advance against Crago. Yeiter rolled 581(183-183-215)
to become the #2 seed and defeat the #7 seed, Lady Viking Lesley Love(527),
232-211 to advance against Rice.
Ayla Yeiter finished 3rd, Notestine 4th
and Love 5th. The top five received medals and a scholarship.
