I'm excited to join the GSS team to provide coverage of the 2011 IZOD IndyCar Series season.
The Series made its action-packed debut this past weekend in St. Petersburg, Florida. A number of rule changes were implemented by the Series during the off-season, and there was much to take in as fans and participants alike watched it all unfold.
Last week, MoreFrontWing.com co-editor Paul Dalbey and I were joined by Jake Query of IMS Radio for the launch of our 2011 podcast season, which we opened with our season preview. We discussed many of the off-season driver changes and new rules being brought in for 2011.
During the weekend, Paul was on the ground in St. Pete and provided updates from the track on Friday, Sunday morning, and Sunday post-race. He also spoke with Mike Conway of Andretti Autosport, Ryan Briscoe of Team Penske, and Tony Kanaan of KV Racing for a MFW segment called Around the Paddock. And the CEO of INDYCAR, Randy Bernard, shared some updates on a few of the current talking points in the IZOD IndyCar Series.
On this week's More Front Wing podcast, we broke down the events of St. Pete, including the new restart and qualifying rules, the performance of the two different tire compounds, the late-race battle between Tony Kanaan and Simona de Silvestro, EJ Viso’s professionalism and etiquette, the woes of Dale Coyne Racing and Sebastien Bourdais, and much more.
Watch this space throughout the 2011 season for ongoing coverage of race weekend happenings and other important information relating to the IZOD IndyCar Series.
