HUNTINGTON, IN—Huntington University’s Forester Lecture Series will feature Dr. J. Kameron Carter at 7 p.m. on Oct. 13 in the Zurcher Auditorium of the Merillat Centre for the Arts. This lecture is part of the Adams Tribute Lecture Series.Carter, associate professor of theology at Duke Divinity School, will discuss “Obama and the Legacy of Martin Luther King Jr.” His presentation will address the King legacy in American religion and politics and will offer a meditation on the future of religion in the United States.

I usually ask everyday, "How was school today?" The answer is usually, "...fine" "boring". Today's answer was remarkably different. " There is a rumor that a shooting might happen tomorrow " , in a very matter of fact way. After making a few phone calls, here is what we have so far. From Huntington City Police Department and councilman Steve Mcintyre - The HCCSC officials are aware of the rumor. The rumor has not been substantiated, but the Police Department and the High school administrators are taking all safety precautions for tomorrow.

HUNTINGTON, IN—Huntington University instructor Phil Schurger will present a guitar recital at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 8 in the Zurcher Auditorium of the Merillat Centre for the Arts.Schurger completed a Bachelor of Arts program at Northern Illinois University in 2003. He acquired a Master of Music in jazz guitar, composition and electronic music from Northern Illinois University during 2004. Schurger has been an instructor of guitar at Huntington University since 2005 where he has had the opportunity to work with a great constituency of students.

HUNTINGTON, IN—Huntington University’s Department of Physical Education is offering a physical education program for elementary-aged homeschooled children.The department will have nine sessions this fall. Class time is from 2:15 to 3:03 p.m. in the field house of the university’s Merillat Complex for Physical Education and Recreation. The dates for the sessions are Oct. 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29; Nov. 5, 12 and 19; and Dec. 3.

from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m., at the hospital, located at 2001 Stults Road in

HUNTINGTON, IN—Star 88.3 and Huntington University have partnered to present an evening of music and message with theNewsboys at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 18, at Fort Wayne’s Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.
The Newsboys, with Michael Tait, have teamed up with Global Tribe to travel the U.S. to bring an event called “Reach” to various cities. “Reach” partners with local radio stations, community ministries and neighborhood churches to bring the Gospel message to towns across America and beyond. This ministry is wrapped up in a Newsboys concert that includes a Gospel presentation followed by a call for new believers to connect with a local church.

HUNTINGTON, IN—Peer Award recipients for the month of September are Dr. Margaret Winter and Nathan Perry.Winter, the director of nursing program and assistant professor of nursing, received the award from Dave Pearson, maintenance technician. In her two years at Huntington University, Pearson noted Winter’s patience. She has dealt with the remodeling of the lower level of the Science Hall and has been on top of letting the maintenance staff know what needs attention.
Pearson also noted Winter’s passion for the nursing program.

HUNTINGTON, IN—On Sept. 24, the Huntington University Center for Leadership will host a leadership luncheon open to business and community leaders.The luncheon will feature Beth Archer, executive director of the Indiana Agricultural Leadership Institute. The organization was established in 1983, and Archer joined the staff in 1991 as the program director of the Indiana Agricultural Leadership Program. She became the executive director in 1995 and has the responsibility of administering all programs of the institute, developing resources, and connecting the work of the institute with the partners that support and are served by the institute’s efforts.

HUNTINGTON, IN—Huntington University has achieved a record-breaking overall enrollment of 1,250 students for the fall 2009 semester.
“Having a growing enrollment in the midst of a difficult economy is an incredible blessing,” said Dr. G. Blair Dowden, president. “We appreciate that our students continue to see the value in pursuing a high-quality, Christ-centered education.”
The total enrollment is a 3 percent increase over the fall of 2008. This includes 1,031 traditional undergraduates—a new record—plus 119 students in the EXCEL Adult Degree Programs and 100 students enrolled in the Huntington University Graduate School.
