Phillip C. Freiburger, age 87, of Yoder, Indiana, died at10:08 a.m. Saturday (February 6, 2010) at Bluffton Regional Medical Center, Bluffton, Indiana.
Phillip was born August 25, 1922 in Yoder to Ambrose and Veronica (Harber) Freiburger. He joined the United States Army and served in World War II. Phillip married Evelyn Ludwig on May 31, 1947 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntington. Evelyn (Ludwig) Freiburger preceded him in death on May 1, 2007.
Phillip was a lifetime Lafayette Township farmer in Allen County. He also worked for General Electric as a wire enameler for over 44 years. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Roanoke and the Roanoke American Legion Post #160.
Survivors include two sons – Von P. (Joyce) Freiburger of Roanoke, and Douglas P. (Cici) Freiburger of Fort Wayne; two daughters – Marie (David) Carmean of Yoder, and Janet E. (Robert) Martin of Roanoke; two brothers – Edgar (Opal) Freiburger of Ossian, Indiana and Quentin (Rosemary) Freiburger of Yoder; one sister – Myrtle Dinger of Ohio; twelve grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife; one granddaughter – Angela Carmean; two brothers – Norman and Myron Freiburger; and two sisters – Bernice Schuler and Alice Gordon.
Visitation will be from 3 - 7 p.m. Tuesday (February 9, 2010) at Bailey – Love Mortuary. The funeral service will then be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday (February 10, 2010) at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 641 North Main Street,Roanoke with Father Ken Sarazine officiating. Burial will be in the Mount Calvary Cemetery, Huntington.
