Joretta M. “Jerri” Schoeff, 78, of Fort Wayne and formerly of Huntington passed away at 2:09 a.m. on Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home in Fort Wayne.
She was a 1948 graduate of Huntington High School. She was a charter member of ABWA Huntington Chapter. Always a hard worker, Joretta’s first job was dipping ice cream at Fulton Dairy where she met her husband, Harold. She worked as a tech publicist for ITT in Fort Wayne helping publish the work of various publicists, including Philo Farnsworth. She later worked as a secretary at E-Systems/Memcor in Huntington. She was elected City Clerk Treasurer for the City of Huntington in 1979 and served for three terms, retiring in 1991. Following retirement she, along with her husband, operated Schoeff Haus, an antique store in Warren.
She was born on March 14, 1931 in Huntington, the daughter of Donald and Vera (Bricker) Lind.
She was united in marriage to Harold L. Schoeff on May 27, 1951 in Huntington. Her husband survives.
Additional survivors include a daughter: Mrs. Stephanie (Mike) Korreckt of Fort Wayne and a granddaughter: Mrs. Melissa (Bo) Hamilton of Evansville.
She was preceded in death by a brother: John Henry Lind.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 5, 2010 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington,Indiana.
Services will be held on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel with Pastor Rick Schoeff officiating.
Interment will be at the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Huntington.
