With a July 31, 2009 deadline looming for the Huntington County Council to make a decision on the Local Option Income Tax (LOIT), residents of Huntington County should start paying attention. The County Council must act before July 31 for the LOIT to take effect at the beginning of the next fiscal year, leaving only two scheduled meetings remaining before the deadline hits. And while we could take a look a how each council person could vote, I think it is more important to examine why four members of the council should not be voting on it at all.

At the May 11, 2009 Huntington County Commissioners meeting, the minutes indicate that Mayor Steve and the person doing his job, Operations Manager, Ruth Marsh, came before the commissioners to discuss email useage and sites they would like to see blocked. I thought, oh really! Well, if you've seen some of the news outlets recently, the County-City IT Department has put together a list of the top ten websites visited by county/city computers.
