Senator Dillion's decision not to seek re-election in 2010 sets off a political chain reaction that will not soon be settled. First up, who runs for the Senate District 17 seat. Several different scenarios could play out here. First up is State Representative Bill Ruppel of North Manchester and State Representative Dan Leonard fo Huntington. Neither face any announced challengers for their State Rep. seats and a head to head match-up could be both expensive and costly politically. The loser of a senate bid would lose their place in the House. If Rep. Leonard decides to stay put, then Whitley County Republican Chairman and County Councilman Jim Banks is primed to go after Doc Dillion's Senate seat.

(Carmel) - Recently, Carmel businessman Brose McVey signed the Americans for Tax Reform Taxpayer Protection Pledge to signify his commitment to not raising oppressive taxes on fellow Hoosiers. McVey became the first challenger in Indiana's 5th Congressional District Republican primary to sign the pledge.
"From day one, I said that I would fight for fellow Hoosiers," said Brose McVey. "Pledging to protect their tax dollars in Washington from the political class and K Street lobbyists proves that I'm committed to keeping that promise."
Americans for Tax Reform believes in a system in which taxes are simpler, flatter, more visible, and lower than they are today. They first sponsored the Pledge in 1986. Since then, hundreds of U.S. Representatives, more than fifty U.S. Senators and every successful Republican Presidential candidate have all signed the Pledge.

(Carmel) - Today, Carbon Motors Corporation selected Connersville for its production headquarters that could create upwards of 1,550 jobs for the area.
"This announcement is great news for east central Indiana," said Carmel businessman Brose McVey. "I am proud and pleased for the folks of that community. However, it's also good news for Hoosiers in the rest of the State."
"Indiana has been home to innovation and cutting edge manufacturing in the power, electronics, battery, propulsion and auto industry for a century, and we can and must strive to continue that legacy with tomorrow's automobile and energy systems. With consistent and focused leadership, the area from Shelbyville and Connersville north to Kokomo and South Bend can become an "electric prairie" of the 21st Century, rivaling Raleigh-Durham, NC as a cluster of successful, advanced manufacturing and creating tremendous jobs for our children."

Gary: I just got back from eating lunch at the Pork Producers tent at the 4H fair [7-27-2009]. I paid 7 dollars for my lunch, which was very good. While eating lunch twenty three elected, appointed and hourly employees of the City of Huntingtoncame in and got lunch. Not one of them paid for their meal. I asked the cashier if any of them paid for their lunch and she told me no. She told me someone else paid for their lunch. The following is a partial list of the city officials, Steve Updike, Pam Updike, Jerry Helvie, Tom Wall, Ruth Marsh, Kathy Branham, Jason Fields, Police Chief Emily, Fire Chief Matt Armstrong. I hope they pay income tax on their free meals.

I have been in contact with David Wallace of "ActiveGovernment". We are looking at the possiblity of doing an analysis of Huntington to see what type of revenue could be generated with marketing partnerships. Some of the Cities involved with this company have generated hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars in non-tax, non-fee revenue. I will address the City Council Tuesday morning July 28, 2009.
