Is closing the auditor's office (Kathy Juillerat) for a super bowl party really true? If so, it is an extreme case of arrogance. To flaunt such behavior indicates no inhibition what so ever in what usually is paramount and patriotic---the appearance of an ethically run public office. The entrenched political families of this community routinely behave in ways that would embarrass people of proper ethical upbringing. The former police chief (Terry Stoffel) being awarded concrete work, lying on his campaign finance reports and lying about endorsements. The police chief's (Terry Stoffel) daughter getting a job in the police dept. over other qualified candidates. The town manager (Van Juillerat) using the taxpayers' vehicle to drive to his private job, the town manager's son (Steve Juillerat) using the taxpayers' emergency vehicle for his wedding party, the auditor using taxpayer money to "party"...my God!!!! The list goes on and it is no wonder people are furious to the point of starting their own darn party. The democrats are an even bigger bunch of do nothing about it types so what is a community to do? The next election will be so very interesting. If there are still enough people who don't vote or do vote for the status quo, we will all have more suffering ahead.

i would like to see both democrats and republicans forget about their policital affilation and get out and vote some of these people out of office.
we have a clear choice in terri boone and cindy yeiter to elect honest and experienced people to represent our county and our voters.
if someone comes forward and challenges the current appointed county clerk in the primary and that would make some of the removing cycle complete, this would be a good message to send everyone in office, either shape up and do the peoples work or get replaced

In the same vein of nepotism, let's not forget....the Mayor's wife was not the only Updike with a city job that is more fluff than substance. Apparently in Huntington, if you are related to an elected official, it must be like winning the 'job lottery' or something.
Is it really too much to ask for people to WORK a full day rather than surfing the net or taking care of their own business on our dime?

Ray is an honest guy who speaks and acts out his principles. Take his sage advice!

Let's see, closing a department to have a party on the taxpayers dime. Where have we heard that before? Oh yea, when Ray Williams was quitting the street department and the afternoon was spent on his going away party. Cheers.

Cindy Yeiter would be a great replacement to the position of County Auditor. Kathy Juillerat exemplifies all that brings down the morale of elected officials in Huntington County. She and her family do nothing but collect paychecks and do nothing but cause conflict between other office holders. She blames the loss of tax funds on Terri Boone and the appeal process. How funny to think that if she would just read the statute she would realize that she (the County Auditor) is responsible with removing properties under tax appeal from the assessed values in order to come up with a true and accurate number of what tax dollars will be collected. Nobody likes to read laws, especially our County Auditor, so I will make it simple and just put the summation of the County Appeals process, just so everyone can see how much the County Auditor should be involved in the process and how our lack of funds should come as no surprise to anyone, especially the auditor. Read along, just for fun………
After the hearing the county property tax assessment board of appeals shall, by mail, give notice of its determination to the taxpayer, the township assessor, the county assessor, the county auditor and any taxing unit entitled to notice of the hearing under IC 6-1.1-15-2.1(c ) and shall include with the notice copies of the completed review forms prescribed under IC 6-1.1-15-2.1(d). (IC 6-1.1-15-2.1) The notification form is State Form 115.
Next she will blame the county treasurer because people can’t afford their taxes, or the county recorder for anything that will make her brother, Recorder candidate, Ray Williams look better.
Or she may blame the Commissioners for their lack of minutes on the county website. Isn’t the Auditor (another law that nobody likes to read) the Secretary to the Commissioners?
Blame, Blame, Blame. And don’t even get me started on her inability to keep personnel that isn’t family as employees on her staff. Go Cindy Yeiter. It’s about time someone has the balls to run against the GOP elite!

It would seem that the Auditor is not the only office that has chosen to take for granted the office they have been elected to. I was in the courthouse on Friday, the Auditor's office was closed over the lunch hour, and the Surveyor's office was setting up for some sort of superbowl party-complete with football being projected on the wall. Really-is this what they are being paid to do? Where do I sign up to run, cause I actually have to work at my job!

Zombieland,
What a FANTASTIC post! I'm tired of people blaming Mrs. Boone and her staff! If anyone would go in this office they would know how professional they are and how well they know their stuff! And Cindy Yeiter is the perfect candidate for Auditor. One of the nicest ladies I have ever met, I will be sure to get the word out for her!
-Isn't weird how only select offices were closed? What a waste of tax payers money! Time for Juillerat to go!

Ridiculous,
I feel exactly the same as you. Where do I sign up? To collect a paycheck for being a party planner in excess of $30,000 must be something that you have to go to college for. So instead of increasing my knowledge in my industry, I am thinking of applying for a job with Huntington. While I don't have the luxury of visiting the grand courthouse but rarely, I can say the last time I was there, the surveyors office was decorating, along with the office that handles building permits. The auditor was rude to me and it appeared that whatever was on the computer screen was more important than me. I won't even get started on that fact that the building was open, but the lady in the auditor's office told me she couldn't help me because she had already logged off. Interesting, because she was doing something at her computer when I walked in. What are the hours again? Maybe they should change the sign to 8 to whenever we want to quit working. Just an idea. Where I work, if we want to party or decorate we do it afterhours. Afterhours?? Is that just not an option anymore?
