Medical Communities Rally Around McGoff

 (INDIANAPOLIS) In the next 72 hours, the House of Representatives is set to act in a historical and unprecedented manner, subverting over 200 years of Democracy to pass a health care bill that will have serious consequences for the future of the United States.

Dr. John McGoff, candidate for Indiana's 5th Congressional District, is vehemently opposed to the Obama-Pelosi health care bill and worries about the implications that this bill will have on patients, doctors and the health care system.

 "This bill will have a devastating impact on our health care system,"  Dr. McGoff claims. "Instead of lowering costs and making health care accessible, the Obama-Pelosi health care plan will have the exact opposite effect. If
passed, hospitals will see an increase in patient loads. Simultaneously, there will be an exodus of doctors, nurses and other health care providers."

Dr. McGoff recently released his comprehensive health care plan and has received the overwhelming support of the medical community.  He received the endorsement of many medical associations, including the American College of Cardiology; American Society of Anesthesiology; Indiana State Medical
Association; American Academy of Otolaryngology; American Psychiatric Association and the American College of Emergency Physicians.

Mike Rinebold, Director of Legislative Affairs for the Indiana State Medical Association, announced his group's support of Dr. McGoff by saying, "The current health care plan is being written by individuals who have never
practiced medicine or nursing, never worked in a hospital or never worked in the health care industry."  He continues, "Dr. McGoff's Prescription for Health Care provides real solutions that would lower costs, increase
accessibility, protect doctors and nurses and curtail government expansion."

Dr. McGoff's plan provides a concise blueprint for lowering health care costs, increasing accessibility and ensuring that American health care remains the best in the world.

"My plan returns choice and responsibility to consumer," Dr. McGoff reports. "We need to stop subsidizing the health care on Wall Street and return the money, in the form of tax rebates, back to Main Street and the American
people so that they can invest in tax free Health Savings Accounts.  We need to lower operating costs by passing comprehensive tort reform and modernizing our record keeping system.  We need to make insurance portable
across state lines to increase competition and we need to protect the patient-physician relationship from being encroached by the insurance company or the government." 

Mr. Rinebold also noted that the shortage of doctors in Congress, a concern that Dr. McGoff shares.

"Currently, there are 16 doctors in Congress.  Many of them were not consulted during the drafting of the Obama-Pelosi plan.  It's unconscionable that the voices and opinions of these doctors were ignored," says Dr. McGoff.

Dr. McGoff believes that it is vital for physicians and health care providers to have a strong voice in the health care debate.

"My career in the Air Guard has taken me around the world and I have seen socialized health care in other nations.  Patients often spend weeks, if not months, waiting to see a doctor.  This is not the health care system that
the United States should be known for," said Dr. McGoff.

Libertarians and Tebaggers repeat the same line over and over. "Mobre businesses= better quality and lower prices" or "more competition equals better quality and lower prices".

We can see what this theory has done for the computer software industry, where Microsoft and Apple only compete on how high they can raise prices and how to lower the bar on customer service and product quality and get away with it. We can also see the same thing going on in health care.

There's no competition in health care. Even if there was, I can't go out on a "market" and buy a replacement heart or a surgical procedure for the lowest bid. :P

People who think like this will tell you that having 20 postal services would raise quality and lower prices. the whole competition myth is perpetuated by businesses everywhere that want to lower quality and raise prices as part of a racketeering scam.

Health insurance cartel should be sued under the RICO Act for sending out $100,000 hospital bills which even include a $500 box of facial tissues. (Holy shit!)

The healthcare bill as it is, as bad as it is, is better than what we have now.

Still, health insurance should be banned, everyone should be covered, and if we'd stop bombing brown people for once, there's be enough to cover everyone, no human being excluded, with money left over.

There's little that's good in business.

It's odd that Libertarians and Teabaggers say they want to privatize things, yet don't want to create health care exchanges where companies compete with Medicaid and Medicare. Yes, I know there's going to be some government subsidies for the poor, but it's really not worse than paying "FICA MED" tax all your life and then also paying $100 a month in premiums when you get to that age where you're on Medicare.

Since the language in the bill would make it to where poor people (including most Social Security recipients)would pay no more than 6% of their income in medical premiums, and the average Social Security recipient gets about $1,200, they'll theoretically be paying about $72 a month their whole working life (obviously adjust this for inflation).

So most working people and Social Security recipients could take this plan and not only be "ahead" about $28 a month, but we could also "eliminate" the FICA MED deductions from your paycheck.

The other thing of course is that these companies can't milk you for premiums every month and then drop you when you get sick, and there'a a way for just about everyone to get in.

The problem here is that privatization doesn't really work. it's not efficient. The for-profit health care cartel takes about 20% of every dollar they take in and spend it on CEO bonus packages, the board is off snorting cocaine off of toasters, maybe even a prostitute or twenty.

Hell, who even knows where all these private companies spend that 20%, but it isn't on you, pal!

Medicare on the other hand doesn't hide its costs, nobody is dipping into the money you've paid in for health care and doing blow off a toaster, and Medicare pays 99 cents of every dollar going in on care and 1% on administration.

It's actually a better idea to open up Medicare for everyone than it is to put everyone under wasteful corporate insurance plans that use the money coming in on hookers and bonuses. The problem with the plan we have right now is not only that there are Republicans in office that have mutilated and ripped out most of the good that was in the bill, but that lobbyists all around (lobbying with your premium dollars no less) got the Republicans and Democrats to write them a bill that looked like the cartel could have written it themselves.

The only reasons I could hold my nose and say I support this bill, is because it does end a lot of the worst insurance company abuses (dropping cancer patients who can't get chemo or surgery and die), and it will accept anyone.

Think of it as what Medicare would have looked like if Bush had privatized it like he wanted to privatize Social Security. Oh, well Ryan, when the Spawn of Satan wanted to privatize Social Security and let Wall Street figure out how to steal people's retirements in the crash of 2008, that's different!

Bush also wanted to privatize retirement accounts so that HOSPITALS, insurance cartels, and anyone else could sue you and MAKE SURE to take everything. Every last penny!

Oh, but it's different when Spawn of Satan Bush, sent here to destroy mankind, tried it. ;)

Hey, here's a funny story, totally off topic, but still on point. From 2001-2007, the Constitution Nullification Act (PATRIOT Act) signed by President Bush, took away our Fourth Amendment rights along with the rest of them.

You know, the pesky one that makes law enforcement get a little thing called a "warrant" before kicking down your door and seizing evidence? Right. So The FBI during this time was using fake TERROR~1 ;) emergencies to seize people's property, their library records, illegally tap their phone, make off with their computers. This is until the Federal court system and those "pesky liberal activist judges" came in and struck down the "National Security Letter" provision of the Constitution Nullification Act and restored the Fourth Amendment.

You hypocrites want to say health care violates the Constitution, why didn't you speak up, AT ALL, when Bush was signing the Constitution Nullification Act. You are liars, you are hypocrites, you are the scum of the Earth, and no I find nothing good about you.

It is simple (very simple) economics that more competition does lower prices.

If you are in a business and are making an Economic Profit (look up the term), you will invite competition at some point. With competition, your Economic Profit will decrease and become closer to the point of a Normal Profit (look it up). Too much competition and you have to do something, because your Normal Profit will turn into a loss. What do you do? You become more Efficient, or you utilize your...

Ryan, you're the only one using derogatory terms on this board. You should look at your previous posts. You have way more issues and hangups than any Klansman.

I would love to help you understand the real world by explaining the history of the tea party, simple economics, basic business, the use of overstatement to make a point, the disagreement with Obama views, simple spelling, how to use a dictionary, etc... But as you can see there are far to many issues here.

So I'll offer you one bit of advice. Shut off the computer, turn off CNN and talk to people in the Tea party. Go with an open mind, you might learn that they are at least principled and have well thought out convictions. You may still disagree, but at least you won't look like a nut.

Ryan makes perfect sense to me. I think Dr. Pepper is the epitomy of what Ryan is trying to point out. Dr. Pepper fails to make any point but succeeds in trying to diminish his opponent by silly, intimidating words. This tactic does work with the teabaggers and that says it all.
