Prominent US-born al-Qaida cleric killed in Yemen

SANAA, Yemen (AP) — Anwar al-Awlaki, a U.S.-born Islamic militant cleric who became a prominent figure in al-Qaida's most active branch, using his fluent English and Internet savvy to draw recruits to carry out attacks in the United States, was killed Friday in the mountains of Yemen, American and Yemeni officials said.

The Yemeni government and Defense Ministry announced al-Awlaki's death, but gave no details. A senior U.S. official said American intelligence supports the claim that he had been killed. The official spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss intelligence matters.

Yemeni security officials and local tribal leaders said the was killed in an airstrike on his convoy that they believed was carried out by the Americans. They said pilotless drones had been seen over the area in previous days.

Democrats Hope Tea Party Candidates Win GOP Primaries, Help...

WASHINGTON -- Democrats facing a difficult Senate landscape in 2012 are hoping the Tea Party comes to their rescue -- again.

In 2010, all that stopped a GOP juggernaut from taking over the Senate was a string of losses in Colorado, Delaware and Nevada, where Tea Party insurgents Ken Buck, Christine O'Donnell and Sharron Angle all lost after bumping off more mainstream Republicans....

"In Indiana, few think incumbent GOP Sen. Dick Lugar would lose to Democratic Rep. Joe Donnelly. But Democrats think Donnelly would have a strong chance against Tea Party-respected State Treasurer Richard Mourdock, who recently admitted he unloaded all his stocks ahead of last summer's debt-ceiling fight. Mourdock recently trounced Lugar in a Tea Party straw poll, 96 to 1."

Updated: TEA Party practicing what they preach?

(Editors note:  It now appears Monica Boyer has now removed the picture and personal attacks against poor little me from her Facebook page.  If not inappropiate, why remove them?  Greg appears to be doubling down!)

Just one day after a hodge podge group of TEA Party activists anointed State Treasurer Richard Mourdock as the heir apparently to Senator Richard Lugar's US Senate seat, two leading activists, Monica Boyer and Greg Fettig, posted and shared the picture below on Facebook.  For a group that has made a living calling out Democrats, "RINO's" (anyone not a TEA Party activist) and others for what they consider inappropriate comments and creating a culture of fear and violence, this picture and corresponding comment seems at the minimum, hypocritical.  For those who say lighten up or it's funny?  Well, you decide!

Editor's Note:  We've seen this before, question the message and the messenger apparently goes hysterical (or at least gets his panties in a bunch)?  It's not surprising seeing this kind of response from him or his group grasping for relevancy, it seems to be the norm.  Really?  A GOP HACK?  Does this mean I'm not a TEA Party favorite anymore?  So come on people, let me know what you think of me!

Greg Fettig: Giggle Alert...Local second rate talk show host and GOP hack has reportedly lost his sense of humor. He will be easily recognized as not being able to take a joke. If located do not approach, but rather call your local comedy club and ask for a pair of comics.

Cain upsets Perry in Florida Republican straw poll

ORLANDO, Florida (Reuters) - Former pizza executive Herman Cain surprised rival Rick Perry with an upset victory on Saturday in a nonbinding Republican presidential straw poll in Florida, dealing a disappointing loss to the Texas governor two days after a shaky debate performance.

Perry, leading in the polls for the Republican presidential nomination in 2012, had needed a victory in the key test of strength in a crucial state to salve the wounds left over from a debate with his rivals on Thursday in which he struggled.

Instead, former Godfather's Pizza executive Cain, who is far behind the two top-tier candidates Perry and Mitt Romney, won with 37 percent of 2,657 votes cast.

Obama to seek a new tax rate for wealthy

WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Barack Obama is expected to seek a new base tax rate for the wealthy to ensure that millionaires pay at least at the same percentage as middle income taxpayers.

A White House official said the proposal would be included in the president's proposal for long term deficit reduction that he will announce Monday. The official spoke anonymously because the plan has not been officially announced.

Obama is going to call it the "Buffett Rule" for Warren Buffett, the billionaire investor who has complained that rich people like him pay a smaller share of their income in federal taxes than middle-class taxpayers.

Dick Lugar’s Path Harder After Mike Delph Passes on Primary (not hardly)

(Here is a piece on State Senator Mike Delph's decision not to enter the Republican US Senate Primary.  Still a 55-45 affair even with what most people ar saying is a irrelevant TEA Party endorsement of Richard Mourdock coming up.) - Just calling like I see it!

State Sen. Mike Delph (R-Ind.) announced Wednesday that he will not challenge Sen. Dick Lugar (R) next year.

Delph’s decision makes the six-term Senator’s path to re-election more difficult. Lugar is facing the toughest primary of his career, and polling shows his support is weak among Hoosier Republicans.

State Treasurer Richard Mourdock is already in the race, and a third Republican candidate would likely have split the vote against Lugar, aiding his efforts to win renomination.
