Editor's note:  I do not hate Bandon or Nate, I don't know them.  If anything, they would probably hate me.  With that being said, I give everyone a fair shake on my show.

Embarrassed for, and ashamed of, My Man Mitch

The First Amendment to our U.S. Constitution states that “Congress shall make no law ... abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press, or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.” Therefore, the Indiana General Assembly cannot give the Governor, acting through his Indiana State Police Superintendent, the power to use unfounded concerns about “safety” and an “ability to evacuate the building if the need should arise” to arbitrarily decree that (1) no more than 3,000 persons will be allowed inside our Statehouse building at any one time, (2) the main-floor rotunda will be the “primary assembly area,” and (3) that gatherings on floors above and below the rotunda will be limited to “official meeting rooms.” 

 

First of all, it is not practical for the Governor to keep count of how many persons are inside the Statehouse at any one time. The State Police can count those entering the Statehouse by limiting entrance to only the east side of the building, but they cannot realistically know how many persons have left the Statehouse through all the various exits.

Updated: Howard County Sheriff Steve Rogers accosts Occupy protesters

Howard County Sheriff Steve Rogers arrests 2 Occupy Kokomo protesters for wearing a $1 bill on their mouth.  Video provided by the Kokomo Tribune shows Rogers ordering a protester to take his mask off (he has a $1 bill taped to his mouth), after the protester says he doesn't have a mask on, Rogers is shown reaching over and trying to rip the dollar bill off his mouth.  The protester backs up and then is accosted by Sheriff Rogers and some deputies.  Amazing that a county sheriff can get away with this almost criminal behavior.

Rogers reached out and grabbed for the money. The man backed away and leaned toward a computer tablet he was filming with. Deputies then pushed him into a wall as another protester, Greg Lambert, appeared to have reached for the device.

A deputy shouted, “Get the [expletive] down,” as other deputies, including Rogers, forced “Shining Spirit” to the ground and cuffed him, as well as Lambert.

Officers took the men to the Howard County jail.

Did Huntington County Commissioners fire 2 county directors?

Sources tell The Gary Snyder Show that the Huntington County Commissioners have fired Nate Schacht, Executive Director for the Huntington Countywide Department of Community Developement along with Brandon Taylor, Director of the Huntington County EMA.  Brian Topp, Deputy Director for the Huntington County EMA's status is in question right now.

We are trying to verify the firings and find out exactly why the dismissals took place...stay tuned.

Our local free paper here in Huntington just published another puff piece on Mayor Updike (he must be getting ready to run for office again and they want his campaign $$$) ... Updike says he tried to steer Huntington down right path despite term’s challenges ... instead Updike steered us over a cliff.

 Now I know some are asking why are you linking to the storyon your site?  Yes, they may get more traffic to their site over this link than they would normally get in 6 months.  True, but I want people to see the reason people like Updike get elected in this county.  I also know the paid paper did a farewell article on Updike but let's be honest, not many people saw that to begin with.  No wonder my website and radio show are more popular than ever and growing?

Now accepting Political Winners and Losers of the Year Nominations

We're approaching the end of the year and that can only mean one thing...okay, maybe a couple of things...but one thing is "The Gary Snyder Show Political Winners and Losers of the Year" awards.  But before we can hand out these awards, I will need you to send me you nominations, so please do so below.  Please give us a name, office they hold or ran for and why you are nominating them.   

Last years Political winner of the year was Common Councilman Steve McIntyre while our political loser of the year was Sheriff Terry "The Partolman" Stoffel.
