During an appearance before the Times of Northwest Indiana editorial board, Richard Mourdock discussed ways in which he would cut defense spending. In coming up with ideas, Mourdock said:
"There's always going to be a lot of duplication. We look today at the historical setup of Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard - there's a lot of duplication and bureaucracy right there. In the 21st century is that necessary? I'm not sure that it is."
Which military branch do you think is no longer necessary in the 21st century - the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps or Coast Guard?

I have said that for years. The question is how to do it with so much loyalty to each of the branches. My idea would keep the divisions, seperate the functions back to what they were originally commissioned to do, and have the top brass merge.
The number of actual service men at the lower ranks should not be reduced, just the management.
That said, Mourdock still needs to be held accountable for the mismanagement of Indiana taxpayers money when he invested in JUNK bonds of Chrysler.

I don't think that Mr. Mourdock should use the example of his campaign manager, Jim Holden, form his opinion of the military. While CPT Holden of the Army Reserves may not have ever deployed during the longest ground war in the country's history, the rest of us have been busy with 3,4, & 5 deployments. Maybe we should get rid of a branch Mr. Mourdock - let's just rid of the military member tat don't pull their weight.
