If they strike down the Affordable Care Act, they will need to strike down Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and Food Stamps too.

Even if they don't, the Republicans will be coming after all that so they can give it to their rich criminal friends as another tax cut for the one percent next year, should they get a majority government at the end of this year.

It's like Carlin said "They'll get it all from you sooner or later, because they own this place, and you and I are not in the Big Club."

It's like Dr. Richard Stallman said...social programs are not the cause of the economic collapse, they have very little to do with the deficit, but the economic collapse is a perfect excuse to shut them all down.

The Affordable Care Act should not be repealed it should be fixed, like a faulty piece of computer software. You don't throw all your hard work out when a program mostly works but has problems, you patch it.

The way to go about patching the Affordable Care Act should start by (just off the top of my head):

Replacing the Republican Party's expedited plan to bankrupt Medicare, known as "Part D", with a law that lets Medicare negotiate drug prices.

While we're at it, let us also reform the drug patent system. Why should drug companies who are already subsidized by the system, who base most of their "research" on taxpayer-funded university results get such a long and lucrative monopoly?

Why should generic drug manufacturers have to repeat the same drug trials that the former monopoly holder already went through when the drug was certified originally? This only serves the purpose of making generics, once available, more expensive than necessary.

Phase out and eventually declare for profit health insurance companies illegal.

Transition everyone to Medicare.

Increase the Medicare anti-fraud budget and put some of these criminal doctors who treat made up patients and game the system so that Medicare pays for their fleet of Ferraris in FEDERAL PRISON. Not white collar resort prison, FEDERAL PRISON. I'm sick and tired of people who commit felonies getting treated with kid gloves just because they are rich and well connected.

Tell the Catholic church (and any other organized crime) to get out of politics or start paying taxes.

I'm sure that with the reforms I've mentioned, we could make the ACA a workable plan that would cover everyone.

If we spent about 5% of what we do on an organization of contract killers known as the US military, on providing life saving medical care for our civilian population, we could cover every American man, woman, and child, not one person excluded.

We're about to see a repeat of the Republican "Contract on America", only it will be a lot nastier this time.

And don't get all giddy and assume that it doesn't affect you. I doubt you're independently wealthy and planning to only retire on some guaranteed savings that are not part of Social Security and Medicare.

One of the things Bush did back in 2005, if you recall, was attempt to put American's retirement money into a stock market that was all set to crash. The influx of money might have delayed the crash a few years, but it would have been a far bigger crash that wiped out much more of the middle class when it got here.

The Democrats stopped them. You're welcome.
