With over 1,100 votes cast over the weekend, Libertarian candidate for President, former New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson, wins the inaugural Gary Snyder Show Presidential Poll by a landslide. Gov. Johnson outpaces 2nd place Mitt Romney and 3rd place President Barack Obama. See complete results below.
If the US Presidential Election was held today, who would you vote for?
Gary Johnson (L) 74%
Mitt Romney (R) 15%
Barack Obama (D) 11%

This is fantastic. Maybe everyone should share this on Rasmussen's, Gallup's, CNN, Pew's and Quinnipiac's FB pages.

At least he's living up to the Party Platform better than Bob Barr.

When your "Libertarian":
Supports the "drug war" that has caused many thousands of people to be killed and keeps gangsters like MS-13 and the Zetas going. (Just like prohibition of alcohol led to Al Capone)
Voted YES on the unconstitutional U SAP AT RIOT ACT (The courts should strike down the entire thing. Pecking away at only the worst parts does not restore our freedoms.)
Opposes voluntary association (in this case, the unconstitutional "gay marriage ban" called DOMA) (When do I get to vote on YOUR marriage?)
Voted for the Iraq War. (Actually, the war only lasted about two months. Turns out that Saddam didn't really have much of an army and there were no WMDs unless you count a small amount of long-expired mustard gas left over from the Iran/Iraq War) (The OCCUPATION, TRILLIONS of dollars, and THOUSANDS of lives lost were unfortunate, but how are we supposed to make sure that they keep oil priced in dollars instead of Euros without taking over their country and installing a brutal puppet regime?) :)
Voted to ban Wiccans from practising their religion in freedom. (Unconstitutional. I am not religious, but I think that people should be free to believe what they want, or have no religious belief at all.)
You *MIGHT* want to look elsewhere.
The only part of Bob Barr's authoritarian/statist positions I agree with is that we should repeal the 16th amendment and replace it with the FairTax, which is actually a much more progressive tax system than what we have now, if you actually read it.
The Libertarian Party should not allow itself to devolve into the party of washed up former Republicans, which is where they came dangerously close to going with Bob Barr.
------
Gary Johnson is a much more credible Libertarian candidate.
As we're talking about third parties that probably have no chance (but can be interesting and affect the Republican and Democratic platforms),I actually like Jill Stein's platform the best. (Jill Stein is the Green Party candidate)

The problem with the Libertarians, is that while I like their platform regarding the end of the drug war, getting government out of the marriage business, and repealing the U SAP AT RIOT ACT, I don't like some of their proposals.
Gary Johnson acknowledges that coal fired power plants are killing the planet, but "they create jobs!" Really?
Government deregulation of the financial system led to the 2008 economic meltdown, Gary Johnson wants to repeal more regulations! Really?
I might just vote for Jill Stein. It's nice to dream that *somone* could get us out of the "Obummer vs. Mittens" snoozefest that is brewing, and get us on a path towards sustainability, free elections, and personal freedom and prosperity, even if it has no chance of happening.
I'm going to invoke Carlin again. "They call it the American Dream, because you have to be asleep to believe it!"
