Former Indiana Sen. Evan Bayh is getting involved in his native state's 2012 Senate race, headlining a fundraiser later this month for Democratic Rep. Joe Donnelly, according to an invitation obtained by POLITICO.
Bayh will be a "special guest" at the Aug. 23 event in Munster, Ind., along with Rep. Pete Visclosky, Hammond Mayor Tom McDermott and other Hoosier State Democrats.
For an Democratic former senator to get involved in a Senate race on behalf of a Democrat is not a stunner, but Bayh is not just any former Democratic senator. He angered Democrats in Washington and Indiana two years ago when he retired in the middle of the 2010 cycle, taking a massive war chest with him and launching a lucrative legal and consulting career.

I can't support Mr. Donnelly now that he is asking for Evan Bayh's help. He has to be one of the worst politicians to ever represent our great state, he should just say that politics have been very good to me. He sure wasn't a chip off the old Birch. Sorry Joe.
