Updated: The Indianapolis City-County Council passed the Domestic Partner proposal by a 20-8 margin. The passage means same sex couples can now get benefits for their partners. I guess that roar was more like a squeak?
This was first reported by our good friend Abdul Hakim-Shabazz at IndyPolitics.org (got to give the cred) but seem to be taking a very interesting twist.
It appears Teavangelical activist Monica Boyer has decided she really doesn't like the fact Indianapolis Mayor Gregg Ballard and the city of Indianapolis are considering to offer same-sex domestic partner benefits to it's employees. So much so the Warsaw resident (population less than 14,000) is threatening Mayor Ballard and the City of Indianapolis (population over 830,000) if it goes through with the plan.
Monica posts on Facebook:
Mr. Ballard is about to find out what it's like to be baptized with fiscal AND social conservatism if he decides to go down this path. Wake up Mr. Mayor. Do you remember why you are a Republican? We can certainly give you a couple of lessons.
Don't get me wrong, it's perfectly fine for Mrs. Boyer to hold her religious anti-gay opinion, it's not okay when she asks the government to legislate that religious anti-gay agenda.
I guess the mouse has roared (to borrow a phrase), did any one really hear it? Better yet, does anyone other than Monica's little circle of friends even care?

I guess I forgot the Republican Party was a one-issue party.
