Have you noticed what's been missing from the Indiana Senate Race lately? How about the TEA Party...errr...Republican candidate Richard Mourdock? Good friend and Gary Snyder Show contributer Brian Howey writes:
But Mourdock was a no-show at the RNC. And he’s been inconspicuous on a number of fronts. When Mitt Romney tabbed House Budget Chairman Paul Ryan for his ticket, Mourdock was mum. The word in political circles was that Mourdock has been told to keep a low profile and let the Super PACs do the talking.
Matter of fact, about the only time you see Tea Party candidate Richard Mourdock these days is hanging with Mike Pence. So much so, it makes me wonder if the guy isn't sleeping on the couch at Pence's home in Columbus or Fishers or Virginia or, wait, did I get them all? Maybe that's why none of the Pence ads were shot at one of his homes, it would have Mourdock standing in the background with only a towel around his waist, standing at the bathroom mirror and brushing his teeth?
Howey's column goes on to say,
As South Bend Tribune columnist Jack Colwell observed, Mourdock needs to “Say little and let the PACs do the talking. Mourdock said some wild things in the primary, such as claiming Washington needs more partisanship, not less. His way with words, his unusual proposals and the nasty tone of the primary race with Lugar left Mourdock with some high negative ratings. He must count on the PACs to drive up negative ratings for Donnelly. And he needs to avoid some blunder that makes him look as brilliant as Akin.”
Mourdock needs to avoid some blunders that make him look as brilliant as Aiken? I think that shark was jumped a while back? Oh, you mean more blunders like when Richard said, “Medicare” and Social Security in the Constitution. “Nowhere is the word ‘entitlement’ present in the enumerated powers.”
Anyway, it's very telling about a candidate for US Senator when the grown-ups in the party tell you if you want to have in chance in hell of winning, "Stay close to Mike Pence and STFU."
