BY KEN ZUK, Democratic candidate for Huntington County Commissioner
At the time of this letter, a Huntington County grand jury is considering criminal charges against Huntington County Commissioner, Floyd "Tom" Wall, in Huntington County Circuit Courtroom. This grand jury by special prosecutor J.D. Sigler presents a rare and heartbreaking (personal and political) confluence in the lives of the alleged victims of Tom Wall, the Wall family, and the entire Huntington community. A Huntington County Commissioner may be charged with a felony weeks before an election is to take place and yet the silence of our media, elected officials and Republican Party are deafening!
The details and facts of this reality are yet to be written publicly with the exception of one website and a radio talk show host. Mr. Wall has said nothing publicly, other than to the Democratic Party Chairman, "it's just a disgruntled employee." The Republican Party has said nothing publicly; even though they have a candidate that may destroy any credibility that they may still have with women voters. The local newspaper, The Herald-Press and Huntington County Tab have allowed nothing to be written publicly, even though mentioning, just mentioning this may have protected some victims. Shame on these public institutions for remaining silent, we will not.
Does this not remind us of the Catholic Church scandals and the Jerry Sandusky/Penn State scandal? We must protect the victims first then give everyone their day in court, not sweep aside the victims as if they are the ones who did something wrong. I trust our legal system to do the right thing and they will.
Under normal circumstances, Mr. Wall's actions in office should prompt a challenge to his reelection, but these are not normal circumstances and these are not normal allegations that have been investigated by the Indiana State Police and been turned over to a special prosecutor going before for a grand jury.
As indicated by the witness subpoena attached, "This is an investigation regarding Floyd 'Tom' Wall and alleged criminal acts perpetrated by this person"

"The local newspaper, The Herald-Press and Huntington County Tab have allowed nothing to be written publicly, even though mentioning, just mentioning this may have protected some victims."
Truer words were never written. I researched Tom Wall after my daughter's first day of work. If I had found even a whisper of impropriety on his part, my daughter would have been spared. She was not the first, but due to her bravery, she will be the last!
"Disgruntled employee" makes me sick.

Heartbroken
Very powerful comment! I not only question the media in this, but where is the Huntington County Republican Party and EVERY single elected official on this. They should be ashamed of themselves. On a national level, the Democrats talk about a war on women, it appears the R's have a war on assaulted women here in Huntington!

Someone needs to ask Kathy Branham about her 1.1 Million Dollar commission she made when she was on council, for selling insurance policies to county employees, that no one seems to know anything about but is documented on tax records. And the 6 million dollars TOTAL that she spent in the process.
