Tom Wall, President of the Huntington County Commissioners, made his initial court appearance Wednesday morning on 7 counts of Class B Misdemeanor Battery. The maximum penalty Wall faces is three-and-half years behind bars and $7,000 in fines.
The charges stem from two separate incidents with two different women, who both say Wall inappropriately touched them.
During the hearing, Huntington County judges Jeffrey Heffelfinger and Thomas Hakes both recused themselves from the case. Tom Wall's case was then assigned to Wells County Circuit Judge Kenton Kiracofe for a November 14th pretrial hearing.
One item I would like to point out, Indianasnewscenter.com was there and will have video (we will post when available) of Tom Wall's initial hearing today, but no local Huntington media. No Herald Press, I guess they couldn't send a reporter across the street to cover the hearing. No one from The Tab. You would think a criminal trial of the President of the Hunitngton County Commissions (up for reelection) there would be some kind of local media presence, besides me of course? Fortunately, Indianasnewscenter was there.

I'm not surprised that the TAB did not show as they typically, by policy and practice, do not cover this type of story. I am shocked that the Hurlburt-Press didn't make an appearance to cover the story. I wonder how Fire Commissioner Hurlburt will be able to provide his comments.
