From our friends at RTV 6:
MOUNT VERNON, Ind. - A southwestern Indiana township has begun giving drug tests to applicants for emergency assistance and denying aid for positive results.
The Evansville Courier & Press reported Sunday that Black Township in Posey County is the first Indiana township to screen all applicants for emergency township assistance for drugs.
Black Township Trustee Lindsay Suits says about 30 percent of tests have come back positive in the first three weeks of the program.
She says anyone who tests positive can reapply for assistance if they participate in substance abuse treatment. Suits says she'll consider having the township pay the cost of participation, but so far no one has agreed to enter rehab.
Indiana isn't among seven states that require welfare applicants to have drug screens.

The tea party republicans will like this idea, anything they like i'm against!

The John Birch Republicans like stories like this, because it paints anyone that needs assistance as a drug addict, whether or not they actually are.
What does refusing to help them actually mean? They'll end up in prison and each one of them will cost Indiana taxpayers $40,000 a year.
I'm sure their local community mental health center approves of the "rehab" program, especially if it can get the county to pay out thousands of dollars per person there.
It's pretty well-known that psychiatrists are all about the money, and they push their own set of drugs. Not sure how this is any better than letting people get away with smoking pot....

Ryan; Don't agree with you alot of the time, Ryan. Your last post hit the nail right on the head. Perhaps a little high on 40k a year to keep a person in prison. Right on!!!!!

The drug testing bills generally are promoted by ALEC.
The company that gets the contract to do the drug testing is a member of ALEC.
Many Indiana legislators work for ALEC.
